Protesting teachers in Kisii County on Monday stormed the Kisii Governor, James Ongwae's offices demanding his audience and position on the teachers' salary increment row.
The teachers took to the streets in Kisii on Monday morning to protest against President Uhuru Kenyatta's declaration that the government was not going to pay them the salary increment awarded to them by the Supreme Court.
Efforts by security guards at the Governor's offices to prevent them from accessing the offices failed to bear fruit as the teachers overwhelmed them, forcing the main VIP gate open.
Led by the Unions' leaders, the teachers broke into song and dance, as they demanded that the Governor addresses them and declare his stand on the teacher’s industrial action over salary increment row pitting their unions and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
"We are peaceful Kenyans demanding for our right as awarded to us by the Supreme Court and there should be no cause for alarm to warrant mobilisation of security personnel to disperse us from the governors offices," one of the teachers said.
When their efforts to secure audience with Ongwae failed, the angry teachers started declaring a political war against Ongwae come 2017 general elections while incorporating the same into their newly composed war song.
They vowed to mobilise teachers and other voters across the county against Ongwae for 'abandoning' them, whom they described was their preferred candidate in 2013 general election.
It was however established that the governor was not in his office at the time the incident happened.
