Kisii County lands registrar Kennedy Mosoku has asked residents to stop politicising land issues to ensure neighbours live peacefully.
He has alleged that politicians have complicated land issue, making it difficult to resolve land cases in their offices.
“The land issue is a sensitive issue. We have to balance and ensure justice. We need the community to understand this,” said Mosoku.
He has instead challenged residents to understand the law governing land translations, and stop demanding things be done their way.
According to the land officer, clanism was another factor in solving land matters in Kisii, adding that his office had to tread carefully on cases involving different clans.
The officer was speaking on Friday in his office, where he also sought to defend his office that was accused by locals of bias in handling land cases.
“In every case, there must be a winner and a loser. Losers perceive us as their enemies and go spreading propaganda that we have failed in our mandate, this is not true,” said Mosoku.
He said the office is ready to tackle land cases that are pending; both in and out of court, and called on the community to cooperate in the process.
