Kisii Central sub-county Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) Chairman, Timothy Atuti has warned that scrapping of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) will hamper infrastructural developments.
Atuti noted that scrapping the CDF kitty will affect many schools which have been relying on the funds from CDF to finance their learning infrastructural facilities, especially modern science and computer laboratories without which such facilities would have taken long to be established.
Speaking at Nyabururu Girls School during the Kisii Central Sub-County Education Day, Atuti called on the government to maintain the kitty for the benefit of learning institutions and rural communities.
“I am of the view that CDF be retained to ensure it continues supporting our schools and other learning institutions in terms of establishment and development of learning infrastructural facilities," stated Atuti.
He, however, called for streamlining of the kitty to make it better and more beneficial to the public instead of having it scrapped due to legal issues which can be addressed through harmonisation of the CDF Act with the constitution of Kenya.
