Kisumu county governor Jack Ranguma re-affirmed the Kisumu county residents that the county government is still dedicated with regards to improving healthcare in the county.

In a speech to mark the 52nd Mashujaa day celebrations, he announced that cancer and kidney patients will no longer have to seek treatment in Nairobi because of the expansion of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital.

“The recent expansion of the critical care unit at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga hospital is one of the improvements that we have done at the facility to ensure that patients get services with a lot of ease,” said Ranguma.

The governor indicated that there are adequate medical facilities in the hospital and therefore patients have nothing to worry about.

“We experienced some problems due to a delay in the release of funds by the national government in the month of July but at the moment, I can assure the public that our medical facilities are well equipped,” he said.

The governor also added that the county had employed 400 new medical personnel that have already been posted in the medical centres across the county.

“Apart from the improvement in the health sector, the county government also acquired new agricultural equipment to advance rice farming,” added Ranguma.
