Kisumu male Members of the County Assembly have been called upon to nature women into leadership this will be looked at as one of the way to solve one third gender rule puzzle.
A Kisumu based women lobby group has said that male have been dominating the leadership scene for a long time, therefore they had the necessary experience to pass on to women and pave way.
Women and Power Chairperson Salome Aketch addressing the press at Sovereign hotel on Thursday afternoon challenged the male MCAs to use their position in ensuring the gender rule is observed.
“We have many women who are potential leaders but do not know where to start, therefore we urge our male MCAs to take the mantle and nature them,” said Aketch.
Aketch said the male MCAs should not feel threatened in terms of their positions by nurturing the women, as the whole course would have positive impact o the whole country at large.
“The gender rule continues to divide many of us and we are just trying to come up with means of ensuring there is gender balance at the county and level. Consequently this will also be replicated at the national level,” added Aketch.
Aketch said that it was time for women to take up leadership positions in the society and break the monotony held by their male counterparts.
