He said society has always ignored people who are mentally challenged and physically impaired.

“We must collaborate and invest also with the mentally handicapped so that we promote their talents and to economically empower them which would make them reliable citizens who not only depend on others,” he said.

Speaking at Kivaa market on Friday when he met members of the public, Mr Kathinzi argued that the county and the national governments should cater for the rights of every person in the society.

He said disabled persons should be incorporated and given a chance to showcase their potential rather than seeing them as weak people.

He noted with concern that among the residents he has been assisting in his area, most of them have been mentally ill and have never been identified by the government in any way.

The MCA said there were many recreational activities that they can partake as youth.

“The CDF is for every member of our constituency and when you plan for other upright youth, make a share also for those with disability,” he said adding that no one should suffer victimisation in any office or government department.
