Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Assistant National Secretary John Matiang’i applauded Journalists in Uasin Gishu for doing a great job of informing members of the public.
Speaking after Knut's Uasin Gishu County branch seventh annual general meeting in Eldoret on Friday, Matiang’i said the media has been playing a key role in educating citizens.
"Media has been playing a crucial role of putting the public into light. It has educated members of the public,” said Matiang’i.
He admired the Journalist’s courage of covering events and reporting them without bias.
“Without the media, we would not have a channel to air our voices. Media is indeed the strongest network which can either make or break a nation,” said Matiang’i.
Matiang'i called on Journalist to continue working together with different unions for the prosperity of the nation.
“When people work closely, the nation prospers, so the media should work hand in hand with our leaders to identify development in the country," said Matiang’i. who honoured the high court’s decision to uphold the decision to award teachers a 50 to 60 per cent salary increment.
