The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) in Uasin Gishu region on Tuesday revealed that the union will not embrace the AON health cover.

Kuppet Uasin Gishu branch Secretary General, Rosemary Murundu said that KUPPET will embrace the NHIF medical scheme than enroll for the AON scheme.

Speaking in her office on Tuesday, she accused TSC of not consulting teachers before settling for AON as the medical insurance cover for teachers in the country.

“AON is not a superior cover since it only covers up to 75 thousand of maternity fee, whereas NHIF covers within the limits of inpatients, when it comes to vaccination to little children AON only covers for KEPPI whereas NHIF covers for all Vaccines,” said Murundu.

She said that negotiations with NHIF to offer a medical cover that does not work to the disadvantage of teachers were at an advanced stage.

“Teachers won’t settle for any cover, they want to enjoy the value of quality services. We won’t allow a cover that lives out some treatment,” said Murundu.
