Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has told off Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leader Raila Odinga over his claims that the government is unable to fight graft.
Speaking at Gatundu trading centre on Monday, Kuria termed the allegations as baseless, saying that the former prime minister failed to initiate the war against corruption when he was in the Coalition government.
Kuria accused Odinga of using corruption to taint the image of the Jubilee government.
He claimed that Cord has failed Kenyans as an opposition and that instead of its leaders supporting the government to fight corruption they are engaged in smear campaign.
“Odinga and his friends should stop this smear campaigns and provide their support to the government on the fight against corruption,” he said.
The MP alleged that there is a plot by the opposition to smear the Jubilee government by inventing corruption scandals.
He further alleged that Cord is ‘cooking’ up corruption scandals against the government to make it look bad and ineffective before Kenyans.
“We know their tricks and they should know that at this time and age they cannot fool Kenyans,” he said.
Kuria said that the government has shown its commitment towards fighting corruption.
He said that graft is a serious issue that should not be politicitised adding that politicising graft will derail justice and recovery of stolen public funds.
The Gatundu South MP urged Jubilee leaders to fight plots by the opposition which he said are aimed at discrediting the government.
