Lari deputy county commissioner Agnes Kaloki has asked local administrators to sensitise residents on Nyumba Kumi and community policing.
Speaking to the press at Kimende town on Thursday, the deputy commissioner said that educating and sensitising the public on security will help curb cases of crime.
She noted that most people within Lari have not embraced Nyumba Kumi and directed chiefs to immediately start the sensitisation campaigns.
The deputy commissioner said that security policies must be implemented immediately and that local administrators who fail to implement will have cases to answer.
“We cannot joke with security matters and that is why the government has taken steps to curb insecurity by introducing some measures like Nyumba Kumi,” she said.
The deputy commissioner stated that adequate resources have been pumped towards the Nyumba Kumi initiative.
She said that chiefs and other administrators have been briefed and also educated on Nyumba Kumi saying that they too must pass the information to the public.
Kaloki at the same time asked religious leaders, school heads and youth coordinators to help educate the public on Nyumba Kumi.
She said that the government has clearly stipulated and directed security officials to ensure law and order in their areas.
The deputy commissioner added that security within Lari will be intensified and urged residents to be alert at all times.
