Rural women in Lari have been called upon to attend a training session on Sunday to get skills on entrepreneurship.
Speaking in her office Friday, chairperson of Hazina ya Wanawake Mashinani Elizabeth Ajema said the training will be conducted at Tumaini hall from 9am to 4pm.
She said the reason behind targeting grassroots women is because there is a lot of potential in them but lacked training on how to start and go about their ventures.
Ajema stated that women can change the economy if they are empowered with such skills.
She said rural women have in the past been ignored despite their numerous efforts to engage in business.
She said most of them are good farmers and do well in business but are never recognised by many.
She said the session will ensure that the women benefit and gain knowledge in business.
"The training will expand and we are looking forward to opening branches to other parts of Kiambu so that other rural women can also benefit thus enabling Kiambu as a county to develop," said Ajema.
Hazina ya Wanawake Mashinani was started three years ago and targets to do business hence training other women and themselves.
She said they also want to encourage other women to form saccos that will benefit them as a whole.
