47 elderly persons who did not receive their monthly payment from government have received their money.

The group is the last to receive the cash after the payments were stopped following corruption allegation in the fund.

The payments for the 47 totaled Sh3 million, bringing to Sh6.4 million paid to the elderly.

Officials from government effecting the payments had a hard time as unregistered people turned up demanding payment.

Yatta sub-county Children's officer Erastus Nkiama, who led the group of officials in disbursing the funds said residents had been cautioned not to turn up in the meetings if they were not registered.

The officer however promised them that they will receive their funds immediately they registered and that he will not be lenient with anyone not following the procedure and criteria used by the officials in registering the beneficiaries.

The Children's officer has called on parents who hide their vulnerable children to register them for help instead of hiding and striving to maintain their upkeep while there are funds from the government.

He added that they will be going round and will arrest the parents who hide their children.
