Leaders from Mogusii village in Borabu constituency have called upon the government to chip in and help them recover part of Mogusii primary school playground which has been allegedly grabbed by a private developer.

Lead by Chepilat MCA Alfayo Mwongeresa and his Gesima counterpart Ken Atuti on Thursday, they urged the land registry to expedite the process of issuing a title deed to the institution besides annulment the one that was allegedly issued by an official from Nyamira county government to the developer.

Further, the leaders challenged the government to take an action against officials from the land registry who are said to be participating in the unscrupulous business.

“The playground belongs to the institution and nobody can take that away. The land was donated by the community and we have evidence. The Land Registry in Nyamira should desist from playing double cards and issue the title deed to the institution as soon as possible,” Mwongeresa said.

They asked the police to stop the private developer from fencing a section of the playground and threatened to take an action against the developer if the government delayed.

“It is the responsibility of the government to protect public land from being grabbed. We call upon the police to prevent the developer from fencing the playground. We will take an action if they fail to curb him from pursuing his illegal activity,” added Atuti.

The two leaders from the county government of Nyamira called upon the county government of to expedite the process of issuing title deeds to all institutions in the region.
