The politicians, majority being those allied to the opposition and who spoke in two different funerals in the two constituencies disagreed over President Uhuru's appointments to key State offices, which they said was inclined towards two regions of Central Kenya and Rift Valley.

The first burial ceremony of Nyamira County Assembly Speaker's mother was held at Maagonga Village, while the other of a former prominent politician and medical practitioner Dr Joel Momanyi was conducted at Nyankoge Primary school, about two kilometers from Maagonga.

Jubilee's appointees Prof Sam Ongeri and Eng Samuel Maugo defended the government against the accusations that had been laid by a section of the mourners that President Uhuru was not keen on rewarding people from the Gusii area with government jobs, like the ones which were announced about a week ago.

Prof Ongeri and Eng Maugo stood by their words that the government had done its best in considering members of the Gusii Community for the jobs, even as the opposition politicians who spoke in the two occasions weighed them down.

Ongeri was appointed the Kenyan Ambassador to the UN-Habitat together while Eng Maugo is serving at the Board of the Energy Regulation Commission (ERC).

"We should respect the government of the day by whatever circumstances and I view as baseless the arguments that President Kenyatta has sidelined our region because I am serving and more than 20 others who were appointed to serve from Gusii are in office. Why should we complain?" posed Ongeri.

MPs Ben Momanyi (Borabu), Richard Onyonka (Kitutu South), Charles Geni (North Mugirango), Alice Chae (Nyamira Woman MP), Kennedy Mong'are (Nyamira Senator), Joseph Kiangoi (East Africa Legislative Assembly), Aben Rogena –Sonko (Borabu parliamentary aspirant) and Dr Grace Nyamongo (Woman MP aspirant) all watered down the claims by Ongeri and Maugo, and said all key appointments from the region were made with a basis of family connections.

Onyonka and Momanyi said President Uhuru's appointments from the region were very few compared to the slots reserved for Central and Rift Valley regions where President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto hail from respectively.

"We should never be contented with the few appointments the president made. If one looked at the list of jobs given out in parastatals, 100 were given to Central Kenya, 75 to Rift Valley while only four were allocated to the Kisii Community. Could this be termed as fairness?" posed Momanyi.
