Eldoret East police boss Nelson Taliti has urged residents to embrace the Nyumba Kumi initiative to improve security in the area.

Briefing journalists in his office on Wednesday, Taliti said that crime rates in the area have declined since the national government introduced the initiative two years ago.

The OCPD said that police have been able to pursue criminals with the information they get from the public.

He noted that security will improve if residents fully embrace the initiative and other programmes being implemented by the national government.

Taliti said that security is important in any society, adding that police will continue to work with the public on security matters.

The police boss urged the public not to fear police but rather complement their efforts to fight crime.

The Eldoret East police boss also urged residents to be vigilant and report suspected criminals.

He said that security must be a responsibility of every patriotic citizen.

He assured residents of their security noting that more police patrols will be conducted in the area.

Commenting on the war against illicit brews, Taliti urged residents to shun the illegal brewing trade.
