West Pokot County Senator, John Lonyangapuo has called for economic partnership among counties in the Rift Valley region.

Speaking to the press at Eldoret town in Uasin Gishu County on Tuesday, the West Pokot senator asked counties in the region to partner so that they could realize economic growth together.

Lonyangapuo said that partnership among of counties in the region will provide a platform for social-economic development.

The West Pokot senator stated that the region has resources that can be used to spur economic growth.

“County governments in Rift Valley should form economic partnerships that will help in realization of development,” he said.

Lonyangapuo said that partnerships will also crate unity and peace among the communities in the region.

The senator said that peace in the region will create an environment for realization of economic development. “We as leaders in these counties must start thinking on how we can work together for the sake of development for our people,’ he said.

The West Pokot senator urged leaders in the region to put their thinking together and spearhead unity and peace in areas that are prone to communal conflict.

He said that as leaders they have a responsibility to preach and spearhead peace among their people.
