Speaking to journalists in Limuru Town on Tuesday, Chege said the residents will meet to deliberate on the sale of illicit liquor in the area as well as come up with measures that will see bar owners adhere to Mututho law.

"Residents of Limuru are fed up with bar owners who have continued to do business in total disregard of the law. They no longer sell alcohol at the stipulated time while others sell sub-standard killer spirits and brews. Residents will come up with new measures on July 10 which all bar owners will be expected to follow," said Kiragu.

Kiragu said it is unacceptable for a few businessmen to be allowed to ruin the lives of an entire generation.

The MP also lauded journalists from the central region for coming together to champion the fight against illicit brews in their respective counties.

He appealed to area residents to support the campaign to ensure it bears fruits.

"I would like to thank all central Kenya journalists and all the media houses broadcasting and writing about this vice. If people unite and work together, we shall prevail against these brews," added Chege.

He now becomes the third MP from Kiambu County to rally behind the journalists after Francis Munyua and Ferdinand Waititu of Juja and Kabete respectively.
