Limuru MP John Kiragu has challenged youths in the constituency to support their leaders as they strive to promote development.

Speaking when he met youth groups at Rironi shopping centre on Sunday, Kiragu appealed to youths to spare time and get involved in development activities taking place in the sub-county.

The lawmaker said that youth stand to benefit in terms of exposure if they seek indulgence in development projects in the sub-county and within the county.

“I want to challenge youths across Limuru to take interest in the development projects taking place in the sub-county and county level,” he said.

The MP cautioned youths against idling in pubs and video cinemas saying that development will not be realised if they are not part of it.

The legislator said that the youth have an important role to play on matters of development.

Kiragu said that sub-county leaders need the support of young people for them to actualise development.

“We really need the input and support of youths even as we strive to promote development,” he added.

The Limuru MP also asked youths to apply for government funds like Uwezo Fund. He said that the Uwezo Fund was set aside specifically for youth empowerment.

The legislator said that most youths within Limuru have not applied for the funds.

“There is no way our youths will earn descent livelihoods if in the first place they are not applying for government funds,” he said.

Kiragu said that a drive to encourage and sensitise youths on government empowerment programmes will be conducted soon in the sub-county.
