Residents of London estate in Nakuru took to the streets earlier on Friday to demonstrate over the upsurge of insecurity in the area.

Waving twigs, they demonstrated towards the AP camp demanding audience from the police boss and area leadership arguing that somebody somewhere was sleeping on their job.

The raided a home of a prominent businessman in the area where they recovered crude weapons hid in a farm which they suspect were used in the attacks.

“We followed a tip-off from the businessman’s watchman that some people were using the unused farm as a hiding for their weapons,” said Antony Kipng’etich, a youth leader.

“We want our police officers to first take responsibility of their ineffectiveness because crime is on their rise due to their unresponsiveness,” he added.

Area MP Samuel Arama who addressed the demonstrators promised to get to the bottom of the matter by involving all relevant authorities.

“Let’s use dialogue to come up with a solution but I promise to personally intervene into the matter,” he said.

The residents demanded an overhaul transfer to the security details in the area saying that the present ones have failed in their mandate of ensuring security.
