Lari OCPD Alfred Makoma has warned bodaboda operators who are flouting traffic rules saying that they will be dealt with accordingly.
Addressing bodaboda operators at Lari Town on Friday, Makoma decried high cases of accidents involving bodaboda operators in the area.
Makoma said that most bodaboda operators have ignored traffic regulations resulting to high number of accidents.
“Bodaboda riders operating in Lari and neighbouring towns should prepare to exit the trade if they are not ready to adhere to the traffic laws,” he warned.
Makoma said that three accidents involving bodaboda riders are reported every day along the Lari-Kimende Road. Makoma blamed the bodaboda riders for most of the accidents saying that they ignore simple traffic regulations.
He said that they are concerned by the rise in accidents and are deliberating on the next cause of action.
“We cannot continue to lose lives of innocent Kenyans through in the hands of careless bodaboda operators and motorists,” he said.
The OCPD said that a crackdown on rogue bodaboda operators will be launched soon in Lari and neighbouring towns.
Makoma also warned bodaboda operators who could be working with criminal gangs. He said investigation is being carried out on claims that some bodaboda operators collude with criminals to steal from their customers.
