Munyu to Makongeni road in Thika east was on Monday closed by boda boda operators who ply that road as they protested against poor state of the path which is under the management of the national government.

The operators, about 50, utilised power saws to fell down three huge trees on the roadsides to block the road which also connects to the Garissa road.

The operators claimed that the money allocated for the road is never put into proper use as it becomes impassable within a few days after the onset of rains.

They demanded to be addressed by the Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a who was unavailable at the moment.

Effort by Ngoliba ward MCA Ginston Ngigi to address the protestors fell on the deaf ears as they booed him and he left in hurry.

They went ahead and cut a tree on the road side next to his residence and place the trunk on the road side.

The youths also demolished a roadside revenue collection center along the road as the county council employee Bundi Kibae fled for his life.

He told the press that he had to flee as the past experiences showed that they could easily kill.
