Police in Ruiru are hunting for a 53-year-old man who is said to have raped three minors in Gitambaya slums in Ruiru.
The man famously known as "Wa Makara" is said to have raped the three children within a period of three months.
He is said to have been using his charcoal business and luring young girls by giving them money when they come to buy charcoal and luring them into his house.
Speaking in his office on Thursday Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira said that the man is suspected to be behind the rape of the three girls aged 12, 14 and 16 in his house in Gitambaya.
He said that the man used death threats to silence the girls and also offered them Sh100 each to be quiet. The police boss said that the news broke out today when one of the girls revealed to her mother of the act by the man when her mother tried to send her to buy charcoal.
"The man escaped when rumours got to him that one of the girls had revealed his evil acts. We are working to ensure that the man will be arrested. I assure parents that this man will be arrested and charged,” Thuranira said.
Ms Teresa Wangui a resident in the area said that it was so sad that a man old enough to be the girls' father could rape them. She said that it was frightening even more that sending girls to buy things was now something to be cautious about because no one was to be trusted.
