A man has been charged before a court in Machakos for defiling a seven-year-old girl.

Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Caroline Obara to answer to charges of defilement on Monday, the court heard that on September 20, 2015 at Gianchuku Village in Masinga area, Salim Shaban allegedly committed the offence with the minor in his residential house.

Shaban also faced an alternative charge of committing an indecent act with a minor.

However, the accused denied the charges and was given a personal bond of Sh100,000 with a surety of a similar amount.

The case will be mentioned on October 16, 2015 and the hearing was set for October 30, 2015.
