An aging man from West Mugirango constituency has called upon the national government to help him recover his land that he was allegedly ordered to forfeit to his ‘son’.

Speaking at his rural home in Esamba on Monday, Mr Benson Momanyi two separate lands accused the area elders in collaboration with chief Richard Orina of Bosamaro location for being partial in a case tabled before them by a youth believed to be his legitimate son.

He said the elders failed to give him a fair hearing and he was determined to take the case to court but he lacked financial muscles.

“I am poor and elders and the area chief have intimidated me by forcing me to forfeit my piece of land. They never gave me a fair hearing and now I persuade the government to help me recover my land. The man is an imposter and I had separated with his mother before she even conceived,” he said.

According to him, Mr James Ogamba used his financial muscles to influence the outcome of the local case by allegedly bribing those who presided over it.

“He is not my son and I maintain that even DNA can prove that. He has used his financial muscles to influence the case but I cannot be able to access justice because of my status,” he said.

Area chief Mr Orina denied bribery claimed and said both sides had presented evidence with the man claiming to be son producing a birth certificate possession the old man’s name.

“We looked at the birth documents and the man had ordered his former wife to include his name as the father. It now interesting that he disowns the boy. We did our best to make the case local but he can pursue other channels to get the justice he wants,” he said.
