Residents of Thogoto on Wednesday discovered the body of one of their neighbours hanging in a house.

The 25-year-old man was described by many as a polite and respectable person to everyone. According to his brother Mr Daniel Munene, who lives nearby, he was shocked by the incident and couldn't have imagined his younger brother could end up committing suicide for any reason.

He said that his brother had been searching for employment for two years now and he had vowed to go back to his rural village in Kirinyaga if his attempts failed at the end of September.

However he explained that he had stopped him because he had heard of an opportunity where he works.

"I tried calling him more than 10 times but he wasn't picking my call. I decided to rush to his house. I asked neighbours but they said they hadn't seen him since morning. I knocked for a while and then decided to break in and that's when I saw his body hanging on the roof," said Munene.

He revealed that the deceased had left a suicide note that read "Maisha imenishinda, sina uwezo wa kukimi jamii yangu nyumbani ndio maana nimeonelea kujitenga na dunia".

Confirming the incident, Kikuyu OCPD Mutune Maweu said that the body of the deceased was discovered on Wednesday evening a matter that raises concern over being each other's keeper.

He said that neighbours and especially the nyumba kumi should ensure they are each other's keeper by checking on one another every morning.

However he condemned the incident saying that the suicide note was a minor reason for the deceased to take away his life.

He warned residents against committing suicide for whatever reason.
