A 24-year-old man accused of being in possession of five rolls of bhang was on Thursday denied bail by a Kisumu court.
The prosecution successfully challenged the bail application before Chief Magistrate Esther Maina on grounds that investigations were yet to be concluded.
The accused, Gregory Omondi, had denied the charges for the offence he allegedly committed on August 9.
The prosecution had requested extra time to conclude investigations and to find other people associated with Omondi, as it is alleged together with the others, they were drug peddlers.
The court heard that Omondi, a resident of Manyatta in Kisumu was arrested following a tip-off by the public. It is alleged that he was operating a kiosk where he was secretly selling bhang.
Omondi requested not to be remanded claiming that he was unwell.
However, the court directed that the accused be accompanied to the hospital before going into custody. The case will resume October 29, when a bail application will be heard.
