A middle-age man was arraigned before a Nakuru court on Monday for falsely obtaining goods that he was supplied with after he failed to pay.

Timothy Wachira was accused of obtaining goods such as electricity cables, bulbs and other electric items all valued at Sh237, 460 from Sarah Ngugi on diverse dates between August 6 and 8 this year within Nakuru town.

Wachira also faced a second account of the same charge after he was accused of issuing a bad cheque worth Sh100,000 to Ngugi as payment for the goods supplied to him even though his Chase Bank account had insufficient funds.

It’s alleged that the two had agreed on a deal that would allow Ngugi to supply Wachira with the electric goods which she did.

However, she expected her payment to be immediate but Wachira is alleged to have failed to deliver on his promise.

The complainant, the court was told, realised that a cheque the accused had issued her was a bad cheque since his account did not have sufficient funds.

Wachira’s lawyer pleaded with the court to give him favourable bond terms and cash bail that he can raise.

He also wants to be supplied with any document that the prosecution will use in the case.

Appearing before Senior Principle Magistrate Liz Gicheha, Wachira pleaded not guilty and was released on surety bond of Sh100,000 and an alternative cash bail of Sh70,000.

The case will be mentioned on October 4, and heard on October 27.
