A man was on Monday arraigned before a Mombasa Court to answer to charges of violently robbing a businesswoman.
Mr Mohammed Ali was facing charges of robbing Ms Rose Atieno while armed with a panga.
The court heard that Ms Atieno was robbed of her personal items worth more than Sh50,000. The crime is said to have been committed on September 22 in Mombasa town.
The court heard that the accused committed the crime together with his accomplices who are still at large. The prosecution said the accused, together with his accomplices were armed with knives and pangas during the incident.
They robbed Ms Atieno of her mobile phone worth Sh15,000 and Sh38,000 cash that she had, according to the prosecution.
The accused however denied the charges before Mombasa Chief Magistrate Simon Rotich and pleaded to be released on a reasonable bail term pending the next case hearing.
Magistrate Rotich however denied him his bail application and ordered for him to be remanded in police custody until the next hearing.
The case will continue on October 12.
