A 27-year-old man was on Thursday arraigned in a Thika court for threatening to kill his mother after a disagreement.
Michael Kiriamiti denied the charges before Thika Principal Magistrate Stephen Mbungi.
He is accused of threatening to kill his mother, Anastasia Mukami on August 19 at Section Nine estate in Thika west Sub-County, after a disagreement when he visited her.
The court heard that on the material day, the accused who stays in Makongeni area within Thika visited his mother after which he turned on her mother accusing her of hindering his success and threatened to kill her if she continued to "prevent him from achieving his goals".
Mukami narrated to the court how his son resented her efforts to stop him from abusing alcohol.
"I have severally warned him against taking illicit alcohol and bhang which he does secretly. I think that might have led him to say that I am a hindrance to his success," she said.
On mitigation, the accused who was arrested in Thika town on Wednesday and taken to Thika Police Station, denied ever wanting to kill his mother.
The court gave the accused a bond of Sh120,000 with a surety of the same amount or an alternative cash bail of Sh55,000. He was remanded at Thika GK Prison.
The case was set for mention on September 22 and hearing to begin on November 5.
