A man was sentenced to life imprisonment on Friday by a Kiambu court after he was found guilty of robbery with violence.

David Nyoro appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Justin Onyiego and was charged with robbery with violence according to section 296(2) of the penal code.

The accused is said to have broken into the house of Danson Ng'ethe where he allegedly clobbered his wife, stole a laptop, a mobile phone and Sh6,000.

The prosecution told the court that the offence was committed on the January 14, at about 3pm at Golden Palm Estate in Njathaini area of Kiambu County.

Ng'ethe reported the incident to the police upon which investigations were conducted and Nyoro was apprehended at Githurai 44 area in possession of a laptop bag belonging to the complainant.

In mitigation the accused person who pleaded innocent told the court that the property was sold to him by a friend and said that he has never stolen from anyone.

Upon the evidence collected and testimonies given in court the accused was found guilty of the offence.

Nyoro was sentenced to serve a life imprisonment in a maximum security prison.
