A man who cut his lover’s face with a knife has been fined Sh15,000 by a Naivasha court.    Alex Kimotho was charged by his own plea of guilty before Naivasha senior resident magistrate Selina Muchungi.

The prosecution told the court that on June 30 this year at Guest Inn estate within Naivasha town, Kimotho cut Shufaa Nyamvula several times on the face.

The court heard that Shufaa was confronted by Kimotho as she returned to the house from town and started accusing her of having other lovers.

Allegedly, Kimotho ordered Shufaa to accompany him to his house but she refused. She later agreed to accompany him after he insisted.

On getting to the house, Kimotho allegedly switched off the lights, picked a knife and grabbed her by the neck. He proceeded to cut her severally on the face.

Shufaa then raised an alarm, drawing the attention of other tenants and the caretaker who came and persuaded the accused to open the door.

He was then arrested and taken to the Naivasha police station and Shufaa was taken to the Naivasha district hospital.

In mitigation, the accused pleaded for leniency, saying he had acted out of anger. However, his plea was ignored and was fined for the aggravated assault.
