Speaking to journalists in his Eldoret office on Tuesday, Werambo alleged that a report by the Controller of Budget has shown that the county government has not been following the laid guidelines in spending the public funds.

He further claimed that auditors  have not been independent as their work is interfered with by the county government officials.

"This delay in disbursement of the county's funds has been occasioned by a report by the Controller of Budget  who has said that the internal audit department of this county is weak and it is not independent," said Werambo.

He said the county government has been accused of spending money without the approval of the National Treasury.

At the same time, he accused the County Executive in charge of Finance of sub-standard work which has left loopholes for corruption. "The revenue the county government has been collecting is so low because they don't have elaborate methods to maximise revenue collection," he added.
