Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has directed all hospitals in the county to implement the digital health management information system to manage their operations.
Speaking Wednesday during the launch of Uasin Gishu Health Strategic Plan and the launch of 10 ambulances, Mandago said the health management information which digitally records patients data, nurses attendances and how drugs are being administered will help improve service delivery.
This, he said, will help someone seeking information on a certain patient/doctor get it at the convenience of their home.
"I issue a stern warning to officers who sabotage the use of the digital health management information system that their days are numbered. They are the officers who are lazy and we won’t allow such. We will distribute the management system to all the 117 hospitals in Uasin Gishu County since it will help in record keeping," he said.
He reiterated that the management system will also help the county government to keep records of drugs and thus reduce wastage and loss of drugs.
This will ensure accountability because the drugs administered will be monitored digitally.
