Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has warned lazy county staff saying that they risk being sacked.

Speaking to journalists in his office at the Uasin Gishu County headquarters in Eldoret on Monday, Mandago said that the county will not tolerate count workers who are not ready to work.

The governor said county workers must dedicate their time and energy to serve the people.

He said the workers are being paid to offer services to the people and not to relax and not show up for work.

Mandago asked workers who are not ready to work to exit saying that there are many Kenyans who need jobs.

“We are not going to tolerate workers who are not ready to offer services. Appropriate measures are being put in place to guard against laziness," said Mandago.

Mandago also warned workers who take off days without proper permission adding that absenteeism will not be permitted unless on special or emergency grounds.

The governor also extended the warning to county executives saying that their performance is being monitored.

He said service delivery should be the number one responsibility of every worker.

Last week the governor sacked Health Executive Dr Eunice Siria over incompetence claims.
