Uasin Gishu County government through the Ministry of Health has flagged of drugs to be distributed to its sub county hospitals in preparation of the Elnino rains.
Speaking during the ceremony to flag off the drugs worth Sh15.2 million on Thursday, Uasin Gishu County governor Jackson Mandago said the drugs will be used in the preparation of the Elnino Rains.
"The drugs that we have released today consists of antimalaria which will be used in the fight against malaria since the population of mosquitoes are more during the rainy season," he said. He urged the hospital management personnel to use the new technology of the health management system for proper record keeping of drugs which will show how the drugs have been administered.
He said this will help reduce the wastage of drugs and also cases of drugs being lost will be a thing of the past.
"Any health officer who will be found selling drugs will be arrested and prosecuted and thereafter shown the door since the drugs are meant for the public and are not for sale," he added.
