Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has encouraged scholars from the county to put more effort on scientific research saying this will play a bigger role in capacity building.
Speaking during the launch of a Centre of Excellence for Educational Methodologies and Management (CER-MESA) in Moi University, the county boss hailed the project and thanked the partners for coming up with the idea.
"We are happy with this research centre since it will create collaboration rather than competition in this county and also enable us compete with other regions on Scientific Research. We thus call upon researchers to invest more on this," Mandago said.
The research centre which is the first in the county is funded by Moi University in collaboration with Nelson Mandela Metropolitan, University of South Africa, University of Oldenburg, Uganda Management Institute and University of Dar es Salaam.
The governor also invited foreign visitors to tour the county and identify opportunities that could lead to future partnerships.
"I invite you to tour Uasin Gishu and enjoy the beauty while you sample the many exceptional things we have to offer," he said.
He says appropriate research geared towards achieving community capacity building will play a major role of improving livelihoods.
Community capacity building is the process of developing and strengthening the skills, instincts, abilities, processes and resources that organisations and communities need to survive, adapt, and thrive in the fast-changing world.
