Uasin Gishu Women have been challenged to apply for jobs and leadership positions being advertised at the county and the national government level.
County Governor Jackson Mandago, while opening the Leadership for Youth and Women training organised by the county government and the International Leadership Institute (ILI) at a local hotel in Eldoret town on Wednesday said women have an opportunity to advance through leadership.
The governor said that the county has been advertising for job positions which he urged women to apply.
Mandago said that empowerment of women will be made easier if they apply for job and leadership positions at the county and the national level.
“Women should not shy away for leadership positions if indeed they want to get empowered,” he said.
Mandago said his government recognises the role of women in leadership, noting that the county government has many women leaders whom he urged to empower their colleagues.
He also said that women have skills and knowledge which can change the development sphere of the county for the better.
The county chief asked county MCAs to propose laws that will empower and fight for inclusion of women in leadership.
