Nyamira County Assembly Majority Chief Whip has been criticised by residents of Manga Ward for allegedly failing to initiate development activities in the ward.
Mr Peter Maroro, who was elected on ODM ticket, is alleged to be more concerned with party issues rather than initiating development activities in the region.
On Thursday, a group of residents led by former councilor Elijah Kebaso accused the MCA of failing to negotiate renovation of major feeder roads in the ward and failing to support youth groups.
“We are unhappy with the way our MCA is working. We rarely hear him launching projects in our ward but instead he is always seen in the front line on ODM matters. He has never negotiated on our behalf to have our feeder roads renovated and the youths are always ignored,” said Kebaso.
Kebaso urged the MCA to allow participatory leadership and accused him of sidelining certain sections that allegedly voted against him.
“We want participatory leadership and that is constitutional. It is quite uncouth to ignore certain areas simply because they voted for your opponents. What we want regardless of our political believes is development,” said Kebaso.
However, Maroro dismissed the claims and defended his record and urged locals to give him time to develop all regions.
“Let us stop complaining all the time. I have renovated a number of roads in the ward and will soon roll out different development projects. Let us not be pessimists and just give me time to do my job,” said Maroro.
