According to mothers, the initiative to move from door to door is a wise idea considering that many of them do not have enough time to visit clinic.

“I was afraid that I might not have a chance to take my child for Polio vaccination due to my tight work scheduled, but when I saw the official at my door step I really appreciated it,” said Catherine Achieng, a parent.

Other parents who addressed this writer on Monday said that casual jobs were barring them from taking their children for vaccination at various health centres.

“I don’t have a stable job, therefore I'm forced to wake up every morning to go and look for a job and that kind of scenario cannot allow me to take my child for vaccination in a hospital, because any mishap will lead us sleeping on a hungry stomach,” said Akinyi Onyango, another parent.

A majority of the parents liked the initiative terming it as the best part of their children health and shunned those criticising the initiative.

Earlier on Catholic Bishops had urged Kenyans to boycott the mass vaccination unless the safety of the vaccine had been determined and confirmed through scientific tests.
