Maseno area chief Nicholas Toro has advised the area residents to keep off a ridge in the area that is posing as a threat to lives of many.
Chief Toro issued the warning on Tuesday during a chief Baraza with the locals. This comes two days after a 15-year-old boy fell off the ridge located in Emabungo injuring his leg.
This is the 10th case to be reported this year alone, and all the victims have ended up being badly injured. According to chief Toro, the ridge which is located just next to an access path should be avoided by all means to avoid any further injuries.
“I know it is the path that most of us follow, but we cannot keep using the route if our lives are in danger, that's why I urge all those who use the path to use an alternative route or be extra careful when using the path in the area,” said chief Toro.
He said that residents have been previously warned to keep off, but all that fell into deaf years.
“The injured boy is lucky that he is still alive and as a leader I don’t want to see anybody else going through the same condition since this is what can be avoided,” added chief Toro.
Chief Toro asked parents to ensure that their children do not use the route alone because they are the most vulnerable lot. He, however said plans are under way to find a permanent alternative route away from the ridge.
