A young focused entrepreneur at Maseno University has been bold enough to establish a business to earn a living besides being a student.
Simeon Kyullu has always been at the top in maintaining his customers and being innovative. Just close to his Kiosk, Kyullu who is a third year student has gone far to erect an entertainment point, a tent, seats and a 32-inch-Television where students are now able to watch as they have refreshments from his Kiosk which is at the university proximity.
David Mayo, a customer and a frequent visitor of ‘Kyullu's tent’ said the place has helped them a great deal adding that they are now able to watch various programmes and his favourite premier football matches of which most are not privileged as he takes a drink from his bottle of soda.
"The place is centrally placed and cool," said Sheila Jerotich, a second year student at the university. She added the business has helped reduce the distance and time they used to walk to Maseno Market which is at the institution's outskirts.
Jerotich said she is also pleased with the favourable prices of commodities at the place.
“Comrades corner has facilitated an ample environment for us, we no longer have to walk to the market square to purchase commodities,” observed Jerotich.
Kyullu, the owner of comrades’ Corner Shop and ‘Kyullu tent’ said the business is at its peak with students being most of his targets.
He however, lamented that when students close for their holidays, he is also forced to close until school re-opens owing to the fact that he depends on students as his major customers.
“I am grateful for the loyal customers who have made my business a success and despite the few challenges I have been through, they are a pillar in my operations and I hope they stand with me,” added Kyullu who is planning to expand his business further to Siriba Campus and beyond.
