Speaking during the Kisumu ASK show, Maseno University E-learning system support specialist Barbara Kabugwi said that students can get Maseno degrees by doing full online courses.

"This is for an exception of main sit-in exams which you do at the end of the semester," said Kabugwi.

She added: "Currently we have 950 students, with 28 being international students from Uganda, Somalia and other countries."

Kabugwi said that the e-learning is structured in a way that the students get content for their courses and interact with not only the lecturers but also with students and get instant feedback and support.

"This platform enables students to do degree programmes which gives us a greater reach. It has given Maseno the platform to give common courses that students must do," she said.

She said that e-learning platform has tried to curb the issue of accommodation in terms of intakes.

"Every year Maseno admits more than 2,000 students. We have taken the students to a virtual space which can accommodate their number doing a particular course," said Kabugwi.

"We have put up structures such that we have multiple people doing the same course, same quality at the same time learners and lecturer interact wherever they are," she said.

She said the course has worked successfully with the PHT unit, a common course for all Maseno University students.
