Monday afternoon marked a bright day for 10 Masinga disabled residents after the county government provided them with wheelchairs to ease their movements.
Speaking during the occasion, the chairman of Machakos Social Welfare of Disabled Persons Mr. Francis Kasyoki stated that the exercise had been sponsored by the county government.
"We have partnered with the Machakos county government to aid our people in Masinga with wheelchairs since everyone has a right to the freedom of movement which should not be limited by physical disability," he said.
The event that was attended by many Masinga residents took place at Kaewa Chiefs camp. The area chief Titus Mbuvi urged the 10 beneficiaries to take care of the wheelchairs to enable them to last longer.
"This life changing initiative will help to restore a level of quality to the lives of physically disabled people so that they can be independent and those who own businesses can move easily to their work premises," added Mbuvi.
The welfare chairman additionally called upon private foundations and well wishers to join in the partnership so as to help more members in the community.
