Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has urged elders in the county to work with the county government on peace campaigns.
Speaking when he met elders from elders from the 11 sub-counties at his office on Thursday, Mbugua said that elders have a role to play on peace and development matters.
He said that elders have a vast experience since some of the them had worked in reputable organisations and can help propel development in Nakuru.
Mbugua said the county government will soon launch a series of campaigns aimed at preaching unity and peace.
Mbugua added that the county has reached out to professional organisations and bodies to be part of the campaigns.
He also urged elders to help sensitise residents on issues to do with community development and policing.
Nakuru elders' chairman Wilson Leit said the elders will work hand in hand with the county government.
Mr Leit said that it is their responsibility as senior citizens to support the government on key matters.
He, however, asked the government to recognise their roles and promote their welfare.
