Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has called on leaders to rethink their development agenda saying that time had come to ensure that projects that will benefit the whole society are initiated.

He singled out schools, churches, hospitals and roads as projects that will make everybody within a locality feel part of any leader’s development plan.

Speaking in Gilgil on Sunday after attending a church service at the Joy Christian Centre, Mbugua regretted the fact that some leaders were concerned about projects aimed at benefiting a select group in the whole society.

“Being a leader means that you have agreed to lead everybody irrespective of their social class, religion, tribe or political affiliation. Segregating anyone among these groups is unprofessional and divides the society,” he said.

He noted that his administration was concerned with encouraging spiritual growth saying that the country as a whole needed prayers to help build national cohesion and integration.

“We are sons and daughters of one big mother country called Kenya, why do we fight one another during electioneering periods? He wondered adding that the Friday interdenominational prayer breakfast would foster peace and build mutual understanding among Nakuru county leadership and the people in general.

He advised parents to encourage spiritual growth at a family level something he assures will help in achieving the ultimate goal of securing a God fearing Nakuru.
