Authorities have been cautioned against the use of excessive force when raiding brewing dens of illicit brews in Nakuru County.

Governor Kinuthia Mbugua noted that a more organised way would see the success of the fight against illicit brew dealers other than causing more harm.

Speaking in his office on Monday, Mbugua was confident that the fight was on course despite the many inconveniences that have accompanied the exercise.

“Two wrongs will never make a right. Let us be more professional in the way we are handling this issue because at the end of the day, lives and the environment must be protected,” he said.

He further cautioned police officers who were colluding with the brewers by giving them tip offs when and how the raids will be conducted saying that they risk facing disciplinary measures.

“As an officer, you have a responsibility of maintaining sanity in society. It will be totally against the law if you will be found acting as an informer to the law breakers,” noted the county boss.

Ever since President Uhuru Kenyatta launched a nationwide fight against illicit brews dubbed ‘the business of death’, politicians and other authorities took up the initiative of leading raids to brewing dens where they destroyed thousands of litres of illicit liquor .

However, the process raised eyebrows when youths started looting, injuring and destroying property.
