Land-related court cases have been identified as an hurdle to the completion of various projects by the County government in Kisii Town.
Kitutu Central Ward Representative Pius Abuki has said this during the a tour by Kisii county officials in the town. He regretted that a number of the projects which had been planned to kick off earlier that were halted by legal injunctions involving individuals against the county.
Abuki was responding to complaints by traders operating at the Kisii market stalls and the open-air market and he acknowledged that a renovation of the market was long overdue.
He said it has been delayed by a court case filed against the county government claiming that some area politicians were hindering development of the market.
“The market would have been developed early but this land where the market is situated has a case in court, so I want you to be patient,” the MCA pleaded.
He however said that he was committed to see the town develop adding that he would partner with Kisii Central MCA Wilfred Monyenye, with whom they share a common boundary of the Kisii township
