An MCA from Kisumu, Joseph Otiende, has called for sobriety among Orange Democratic Movement members during the party's grassroot elections that start on Saturday.
Otiende said there was need for a peaceful party election devoid of violence and hooliganism.
He cautioned youth to desist from being used by politicians to cause chaos during the poll.
The MCA for South West Kisumu Ward said elections should not divide the people of Kisumu but should be an exercise that bonds people together.
“Anybody who is contesting for any post, please do not cause chaos, talk to your supporters to preach peace,” he said.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Friday, Otiende said the party positions are not salaried and nobody should lose a life during the polls.
He asked his electorates to turn up in various polling centers in his ward to cast their votes and return home peacefully.
“It is not a do or die party poll and I ask my people not to be associated with any form of violence during the party polls,” he said.
Otiende spoke moments after some party youths stormed a ODM training meeting and disrupted it claiming it was a scheme on how to rig party elections in Kisumu County.
