A local leader has promised city traders consideration during the allocation of modern kiosks within Nakuru’s Central Business District (CBD) upon completion.

Speaking at the Nacho Square on Thursday, Biashara Ward MCA Stephen Kuria expressed confidence that over 1500 traders would get allocation.

“Let nobody swindle and personalize the process because as a government, we know what is good for our people,” he said, after he moved in to appease demonstrating hawkers.

This was as a result of a rife of speculations that a group of people masquerading as County officials were collecting money from unsuspecting traders within the city promising to allocate them the new sheds.

“This is a County Government’s project that will officially be opened by his Excellency the governor himself upon completion,” he explained.

“Please be on the look out so as not to be duped. Infact report such people to authorities immediately,” he added.

The Modern Kiosk project was initiated the County Government as a way of doing away with the traditional ‘Vibanda kiosks’ so as to make the CBD more organized while at the same time minimize the chances of loosing revenue to fake County Askaris.
