A number of residents from Gesima ward in Kitutu Masaba constituency have accused the area MCA of discriminating against certain areas and not involving the people in development projects.
This comes a days after MCA Ken Atuti gave 150 bags of cement to three institutions from one location without allegedly specifying the criteria used to identify the institutions in dire need.
But on Thursday, a number of area residents led by aspiring MCA Seth Omao took the MCA head in a social media forum for the ward accusing him of ignoring certain section.
“We are not against development and that should be understood by everybody. It is important for our MCA to outline criteria used for instance in donating bags of cement to some institutions from the same location. It is fundamental that we are involved,” Omao said.
They urged Atuti to involve professionals in identifying the neediest areas for quick development in an open and transparent manner.
“I personally support development but the former Mochenwa ward that was amalgamated with Gesima has been forgotten. It is important for experts to be involved,” read another statement from Micah Masara.
However, Atuti dismissed the claims and said the donation was made based on the request by the managements of Ritibo, Nyaronge and Riakworo primary schools.
“The most important thing that we must know is that I haven’t discriminated any region. Education sector that is under contention isn’t devolved but I got an urgent request from the managements of the schools. Otherwise, there is no discrimination in the ward,” he said.
